February 2020 Sew Day

Hi Everyone:

Well, we started the day off with the room having been beautifully decorated by Susie Pyron to celebrate Birthdays.  She was finally well enough to come back to use after a long stay in the hospital, and still didn’t have her full speaking voice.  she made up for it with the delicious cakes and fun time she added to the day.
Johnny brought his two kids to play with us, and be in the pictures too.  It always gives the residents something fun to come in and discuss with us when we have ferrets during our sewing day.  Margaret brought her friend, Nancy, who truly blended right in with all our crazy antics of the day!!

January 2020 Sew Day

jan2020

We had quite a busy sewing day last weekend.  Several people had different appointments that meant they needed to leave early, but we ended up having lots of fun, laughing and accomplishing more bedding than expected.  We did have a new person that is a resident at Brookdale, Rhett, joined us, and really helped a lot.  Hoping she will be with us in the future.

Margaret and Trella both took bedding home to work on this past month.  Trella redid the ribbon box, by consolidating things.  Then both of them put their heads together Saturday to combine all the stuff into one rolling box which will make it sooooo much easier to bring back and forth to our sewing days.
Johnny brought his two kids, which got a lot of extra attention and TLC by all that saw them!!

Wow … what a wonderful time we had this past weekend.  Susie Pryon over did herself with decorating the counters for our Christmas lunch.  It was beautiful, and things moved so quickly that I never got a picture of it.  Johnny brought his two ferrety kids, and Morgan brought her new puppy Feathers too.   Food and fellowship was wonderful as always.

Hope to see more people coming each month in the next year.  We can always use the extra help!!  Special hug and thanks to those that have attending so many times this year … it makes such a difference what we can send to shelters in need.
Wishing you all a very very wonderful holiday season, and happy future 2020.

August 2019 Sew Day

Well, we had another great sewing day with the Crafty Weasels.  Morgan brought three of her cute ferrety boys to keep us entertained.

Attendees:

Margaret

Sue

Trella

Karen

Florence

Morgan

Johnny

Georgina

Dyna

Meliah

Graclyn

Completed:

13 – Wontons

6 – Sleepsacks

4 – Hammies

We do have a lot of bedding that is in process, so should be able to finish even more next month.

It was discussed and decided that we won’t be making two different sizes of sleepsacks and hammie sets.  All the shelters now have Ferret Nation size cages so they are only requesting FN sized bedding.  We will now concentrate on the FN only, with the WonTon Flower hammies, and the Inside Outside sleepsacks (Margaret continuing to do PennyButton Hammies).  This way if they indeed have smaller cages, we can send extra WonTons, etc.  This should simplify the cutting process, and steamline our sewing days too.

Karen let us know that we now need more bedding cut for her to match, and bring to the upcoming sew days.  So, I’m requesting help with the cutting and getting things ready to give to Karen to match.  Johnny already volunteered for this weekend.  If I could have a steady stream of people come to cut, we can get the stock built up so that Karen will have things to match.

So, please send me a text or email, if you can come help during the weekends.

Thanks for all you do to help the CW continue to complete their mission.

July 2019 Sew Day

Well, as with ferrets, there is never a dull moment with the Crafty Weasel sewing days! Things started fine, but we found out that the A/C wasn’t working. Nothing could be done to fix it for us, but we kept on trucking even when the temp was 84+. Such amazing people that wouldn’t give up!!! And, we really accomplished more than expected!

We also brought stuff to share for lunch so that we could concentrate on getting more accomplished (having lunch in their dining room, take a lot more time). Everyone contributed to making it an amazingly filling lunch!!

June 2019 Sew Day

Well, as usual we always have a great time during our sew days, but never quite know what and who to expect. This past sew day we were lucky to have Gia (Genesis) a 10 year old daughter of an employee from Brookdale come help us. She was fascinated with Johnny’s ferrets, and Sue’s little girl too! She took over the job of QA/QC that Mary Ann used to do for us … made me smile thinking of MA’s spirit being there with us watching another possible generation of CWs to come.
