July 2015 Sew Day

july15

I want to thank everyone that came.  We were running low on our regulars, so needed the assistance.

Dawn appeared and brought an arm load of bedding, wish she could have stayed longer, but was good to see both her and Rocco.
Dyna came with her sewing machine so that I could look it over.  It is one of my favorite (I helped a bit on eBay with her picking it out), and with a bit of TLC and a new needle, it was rolling along.  Husqvarna Lilys are my all time favorite machines, they can really handle the thick stuff we use for our bedding.

May 2015 Sew Day

may

We had a very special sew day last Saturday.  We planted an azalea in remembrance of Mary Ann.  We’ve been so lucky that Lisa found this location for us to sew, and Mary Ann really loved this place too, so it seems right to have a reminder of our friend with us each time we come together for the Crafty Weasels.

Because of the pre-work that Lisa and Sue did before our last sew day, we were able to take the extra time to remember Mary Ann, and also get some much needed bedding completed.

Finished bedding:

13 – Regular Sets

3 – Regular Hammies

3 – Regular Sleepsacks

7 – FN Sets

5 – FN Sleepsacks

2 – FN Hammies

2 – Hanging Tunnels

April 2015 Sew Day

20150411_093317 20150411_153839

Saturday I arrived to a HUGE table of bedding that was ready to sew the top/bottoms, and stuff that was completed.  Lisa and Sue greeted me with this surprised.  It seems they had gotten together during the month, and pinned, sewed around the worlds, flipped, clipped, make ribbons had had things ready to go a be waaaay ahead for our sew day.  It was AMAZING!!
There was also cheesecake, crackers, all kids of drinks, and balloons to celebrate our one year anniversary of being at Bookdale.  Wow … as you can tell, we had quite a day!
We had two new members that joined us from Chattanooga, and Morgan brought her new little girl to share.  Things got so crazy towards the end, that there isn’t a group picture this time.  Lisa did take a picture of Morgan allowing the staff member (from Bookdale that is always so helpful), to snuggle with her, Elphaba.

This group really rocks and I’m proud of each and every one of you!!

March 2015 Sew day

march1 march2

Well, we had a really nice sew day this past Saturday.  I was greeted by Lisa and Sue when I arrived.  I’m generally there early, and they were at the table talking to a very interesting resident – vet, and an author of a book too.  Dr. Merrick is in charge of the courtyard where we will be planting a beautiful azalea in remembrance of Mary Ann.

Lisa and Sue arranged so that they will be putting a brick in our spot that has her name, date and that she is a Crafty Weasel.   The total cost for everything including plant and brick is $130.  If you would like to help with this and donate, please send a check to Lisa Cook.  Her address is:  209 Abernathy Way, Acworth, GA  30102
Sue and Lisa did a really nice job of having Mary Ann’s picture, with a candle that was lit, and gave us a chance to remember our sweet friend, who will always be missed.
We did complete some bedding:
1 – FN Set
1 – FN Hammie
3 – FN Sleepsacks
5 – PennyButton Hammies
2 – WonTon Flowers
3 – Small Sleepsacks

Morgan is attending the Spring Finals Ferret Show in Virginia and has gotten a table, and will be putting our Crafty Weasel bedding there to sell.  We included the wonderful Carrier Saddle Bags which are Karen’s brainstorm, and hope to really impress people enough to purchase them too!  Honestly, I’m hoping we can have a “personal” sew day, because my kids could use one of those too!
We will be having a regularly scheduled Sew Day on April 11th.  Lisa took some of the unpinned sets home, and already has started pinning and getting us ready for next month.  She is really helping to kick us in gear, so I hope you will all come and join in the fun next month!
Thanks for being such a very special group, and please know that each and everyone of you make a difference in our lives!

In memory of Mary Ann

It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I let you all know about Mary Ann.  I was at the hospital today, and she isn’t able to fight any longer, her body was shutting down and she is non-responsive.

It was decided by the family and hospice to allow her to gently transition without pain.  We left so that they could have the last hours with her.
I shared with her family, how much she was loved by your group, and how very important she has always been in our lives.
She will be leaving 3 ferrets, and 3 cats that will need to find new forever homes.  If someone is able to help with opening their home, please let me know.  I’m sure it will help put her mind at ease and that of her family.
For years, she was a wonderful hospice Mom for the shelter, and the greeting at the Rainbow Bridge will be so thunderous, I’m sure we will feel the vibrations.
Thank you for all your prayers.

February 2015 Sew Day

feb
We did have a wonderful sew day for Valentine’s Day.  Wonderful to spend this day with the people you love!
Lisa made some very delicous Red Velvet Cupcakes, with the cuties little decorations.
Before I give the count, I need to let you know that Lisa took the PennyButton Hammies in hand and really started us on the way to have a nice supply – put her sewing machine, and new sewing talent to great use.  Jewelz became the button queen of putting them on all four corners, and Saturday Morgan stepped up and did the final around the outside of 1/2 of them to finish them up.
