January 2015 Sew Day

jan

Wow … what a day we had – being the first one of the year, I believe we started on the right foot.

Lisa, was amazing!  She came in and had done the around the world, flipping, and sewing the opening for 40 PennyButton hammies!!  She did all this on her new machine, at home on her own time!
Then, Jewelz decided to really put her mind and finesse her machine, and in one days work, she sewed all of the buttons onto the 40 PennyButton Hammies = 160 buttons!
Now our total doesn’t show this, but this is just letting you know how we were rolling.
Before lunch, Dawn dropped in with the most WONDERFUL stack of beautiful bedding already made and ready to send out.  She also did some nice fleece pillow cases for Lisa to take over to Debbie for the shelter.
This is what was accomplished:
51 pieces from Dawn
4 – PennyButton Hammies
4 – WonTon Flowers
4 – FN Sets
2 – FN Hammies

We continue to have a great group of people that really know what they are doing and hit the ground running.  We spent a good bit of time making these unique bags to sell at the Festival at Chambrell next Month.  The material was donated, so all we have to do was have a good idea, and make them work.  They are cute, different, and hopefully will have the residents interested in purchasing and using them.

June 2014 Sew Day

Wow … What a sew day. We were there to participate in adoption and family picnic day, and I think we made a wonderful impression on the residents and their family members.  Beck and her beautiful ferrets were our ambassadors to the community and they really put on a great show for everyone.  Poor things were tuckered out by 2:00 — they did the work of 15 ferrets!  They all left before the group picture was taken, but hopefully we can get Beck to post some cute pictures of them.

Megan, Rob and Draven came to help for possibly their last sew day, because they are moving back to Nebraska, so to be closer to family.  Megan offered to get on a machine, and started putting buttons on PennyButton hammies, Rob did pinning, and Draven (he was our first CW Baby!) was perfectly happy with his electronics, we all decided we’d adopt him in a heart beat!!

Marie, attended with her one month old little boy.  I saw several residents enjoying having a baby there too.

Lisa, Mary Ann, Jonathan, and Chris were all real trouper for being outside at the CW Table next to the rescue table.  AND, no one went home with an extra puppy – from what I understand they were adorable!

They had a table set up for Kindness Matters Ferret Shelter, but Debbie already had a trip planned to Florida for a family gathering.  Judy and her whole family were able to attend and helped out from the beginning to the end.  I wasn’t able to get all of them that attended, but some were in our picture.

I haven’t had a chance to unpack the car, so I don’t know our totals.  Truthfully, I think we were there more for meeting the public, selling a bit of bedding, than sewing, but we did get things accomplished, and other stuff ready for next sew day.

Thanks everyone for coming for the day … each person makes such a big difference, and we sure showed up well for the ferret community.  We got lots of positive comments from Diane (lady that Lisa set up for us to have this wonderful space), she said everyone was impressed by what we do, and all the staff and residents say such positive things to her all the time about our group.

I appreciate each and every one of you, and so thrilled to call you “family”.

May 2014 Sew Day

1506842_10152379782452208_6066071722626771005_n

Being Mother’s Day, I know it was tough for several of our regulars and others to be able to attend our meeting yesterday.  Christy came in bright and early to leave a really pretty license plate for Meliah.

I’m happy to say that we still were able to get things accomplished.  I want to give special thanks for those that showed up and really got things going.  Carrie and Jim came over to pick up ferret gravy and saw that we could use some help, so they stayed till the end. Carrie helped me get the box of material organized a while back, and she jumped right in to cut, and Jim pinned them for Karen and I to sew.
This was our first time having dinner in their dining room, and I had Salmon which was delicious, and apple pie for dessert!  :-)

Accomplished:
4 – large dog beds
15 – PennyButton Hammies
15 – Comfort Slings
1 – Small Tunnel
1 – Small Crinkle Sack
We did have several of the residents stop by and check out what we were doing, and I believe we definitely added a bit of fun in the dining room.  Morgan was wearing her wonderful ferret face shirt and boy, did everyone there get excited and what to know what it was, etc.
Next sew day will be on June 7th, so please mark your calendars.  This is a week early, but Chambrel of Roswell, is having a Family Picnic Event combined with a Pet Adoptions.  They want us to sell our bedding, and have invited our shelter Kindness Matters to attend also.  We are hoping for a large turnout of ferret people.  Bring your ferrets to share at the event, do a bit of sewing, and just enjoy the time.
Thanks everyone for coming yesterday, and really making it all work.  I’m so blessed to have you all in my life!

New Location for Crafty Weasels Sew Days

There is some great news for the Crafty Weasels.

We put out the intent at the beginning of the year to find the right location that we can meet monthly in a large room. Well several started helping (thanks Megan) and putting things into the right direction. Lisa Melton Cook called me and told me that she would find a place for us and not stop until she did. Well, after lots of phone calls, and not getting the response we needed, she had great news, and we had a place to look over and see if it worked for us.

Long story shorter – it is Chambrel at Roswell. The facility is beautiful, elegant, and they are excited to have us there. It is truly all that we were envisioning.
